Everyday habits to keep you fit!

Nowadays being fit is the new fad and everyone is indulging in new and innovative ways to stay fit. Be it cross fit, zumba, MMA (Mixed Martial Arts), swimming or some sport, there is a plethora of workout regimes to oneself fit and healthy.

But there are many who for various reasons can’t explore many fitness venues. Be it expense, lack of time or a lack of motivation, not everyone explores fitness regimes to stay fitter. Hence we propose a list of daily habits that one can adopt in their daily lives to stay fit.

  1. Eat more often

Aim to eat 3 meals and 2 small snacks every day. This ensures that you are eating something every 3 hours. This practice ensures that your metabolism is always high and prevents hunger.

A 2010 Swedish study, involving 3000 participants, reveals that people who ate in more intervals had lower BMI, smaller waist and consumed more fibre and drank lesser alcohol than those who limited their diet to 3 or less.  

  1. Cut out the sugar

People who drink more sugary beverages have been recorded to have a higher risk of obesity and lower fibre intake.

To give sugary beverages like margaritas, coke or even packaged juice an alternative opt for drinks like wine, beer or a drink mixed with club soda.

  1. Get smaller utensils

Bigger plates have a tendency to keep your meals heavier and also promote bigger meals. By downsizing your plates to an appropriate size you keep your meal portions in control. Also, try to keep serving dishes off the table.

  1. Drink plenty of water

It is a fitness tip everyone swears by. Water will increase your energy improve alertness, cleanse some of the fat, make you feel more full, speeds up your metabolism, AND has zero calories!

  1. Stretch it out

Stretching is vital to a healthy lifestyle. It helps maintain and increase flexibility in your muscles, provides longevity to the joints, and flushes the muscles out, clearing congestion.

  1. Move a little more

When at work, make sure you are moving every half an hour. Stand for a bit or take a stroll around your desk. This will keep your body moving and not stagnant.

  1. Get the right amount of sleep

Most healthy people not only exercise every day, but they make sure to get the sleep they know they need. Sleep is when most of the anabolic or growth hormones are produced and regeneration occurs.
